We´ve been host this week to an introductory training course for GUE (Global Underwater Explorerrs) run by Polish instructor Wojtek Filip. It has been fascinating to see a ddifferent apporach to dive training, though we didn´t envy them the walk across the beach with twin 12 litre tanks and up to 14 kg of wight attached! Clearly this is training for conditions much harsher than we generally experience here with safety, back up and intense training being the order of the day.

Rebreather Friendly
Rebreather Friendly
It´s been great to welcome back Michael & Lea from Denmark who´ve been enjoying diving this week with their Inspiration & Evolution rebreathers. We got geared up for their visit supplying all the necessery support including CO2 absorbant, diluent cylinders, oxygen cylinders, aluminium bali-out cylinders etc. They even had private access to our second boat to make the most of their different style of diving making a full 2 hour dive yesterday.
We would be happy to welcome more CCR divers in the future so if you would like to make use of these facilities and bring your own rebreather we´ll be happy to accommodate you.

Finnish dolphin
Finnish dolphin
2 of our recent visitors from Oxygene Helsinki, Ville and Soili, just returned, very excited, from their first dive with dolphins. Soili has some great photos (one shown here striking a pose!) but unfortunately our videographer had left his movie camera back at base as he was leading the dive on this occasion, so we have no live footage. Wouldn’t you know it!

Dolphin Delight
Dolphin Delight
Although we quite regularly see dolphins from the boat, they usually disappear when we get in the water. As you can imagine therefore it was a particular treat to see dolphins playing around the rigging whilst we dived our local wreck, El Meridian, on 2 different occasions in the last week. At first it was rather worrying to see one of them with a plastic bag apparently stuck to its fin, and even more worrying to see the same thing several days later. But then it did a little flip and removed the bag and went on to play around with it, doing somersaults and tossing it around. What a relief – the whole thing was just playtime!
