PADI Discover Scuba Diving
Duration: 1 Day

Today, do something for the first time; experience the thrill of scuba diving under the supervision of a PADI professional. You will master some of the basic concepts of diving in confined water (pool or shallow sea) and then head off on an open water adventure at an inviting 'shallow' reef. Experience the feeling of weightlessness in a new environment and enjoy the vibrant colours and amazing variety of the Red Sea Riviera's marine life.

Depending on which of our centres you visit, the open water dive included in this program will be from the boat or shore.

The water is warm and clear and your Emperor/Oxygene Divers instructor is patient, encouraging and incredibly knowledgeable. You feel safe, confident and rather pleased with yourself that you're mastering the skills of scuba diving! After all, it's in our interest to make your diving easy, safe and fun because we want your diving adventure to last a lifetime.

PADI Scuba Diver
Duration: 2-3 Days

The PADI Scuba Diver program is an entry level certification, which is perfect for when you're on holiday and plan to dive just a couple of times a year.

With this certification, you can dive under the direct supervision of a PADI professional anywhere in the world to a max depth of 12m - a wonderful opportunity to explore your underwater kingdom in comfort and safety with an experienced guide accompanying you. You can also, at any time after certifying as a Scuba Diver, take a short upgrade course to become a PADI Open Water Diver.

The knowledge and skills you learn in this program are just the beginning of an exciting array of courses and programs that await you.

What will l do?
Throughout the course, you'll learn a lot about scuba diving, including your diving equipment and techniques. You earn this rating by completing 3 knowledge development sessions, 3 dive skill sessions in confined water, a 10 minute float and 2 dives in the beautiful Red Sea. The dives can be from the boat or shore depending on which resort you visit. This is your chance to put on some fins, strap on a mask and experience an amazing adventure!

PADI Open Water Diver
Duration: 4-5 Days

This is the course you need before moving on to further training. Armed with your PADI Open Water Diver card, this certification is recognised at dive centres worldwide and you will learn to dive safely to a depth of 18m with a buddy (12m for 10 & 11 year olds).

Throughout the course, you'll learn the theory of scuba diving, extend your knowledge of dive equipment and improve your diving skills. The course is made up of 5 theory sessions, 5 dive skill sessions in confined water to practice skills and 4 open water dives in the Red Sea from the boat or shore depending on the resort. You will also be asked to complete water skills including a 10-minute float and a 200m swim.

PADI Open Water Referral
Duration: 2 Days

If you've already completed the 5 confined water and knowledge development sections of the PADI Open Water Diver course at home, you can complete your open water training on the inviting reefs of the Red Sea. This will include 4 Open Water dives from the boat or shore depending on the resort you visit. In just 2 days you will gain full certification as a PADI Open Water Diver.

We do ask that you bring along your RDP table (dive planner) and your PADI Referral form showing proof of having completed all 5 theory and confined modules signed by a PADI Instructor and valid within 1 year. Referral courses are also available from other dive organisations, please email for further details. 

PADI Open Water Fastrack
Duration: 3 day course (6 day package includes 3 days of fun diving after your course)

Start today! Take a Fastrack course where you self-study before going on holiday. Which means that when you get to your resort, you spend more time where it counts - underwater! The Fastrack course includes materials and instructions sent to your home address where you can complete the knowledge development prior to arrival.

Once on holiday, the real fun begins. After going through your completed knowledge reviews with your Instructor, you'll go on to do the skill sessions in confined water followed by 4 open water training dives in a 3-day period. The open water dives can be from the boat or shore depending on which resort you visit. You will also be asked to complete water skills including a 10-minute float and a 200m swim.

On completion of the course, you'll be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver, recognised worldwide. After the course, we can include 3 days of "fun" diving to complete your holiday. 

PADI Scuba Review
Duration: 1 day 

If it's been some time since you last went diving then Emperor/Oxygene recommends that you comply with the recommendations made by your training agency regarding the completion of a Scuba/Skills Review before diving. Most agencies recommend a Scuba/Skills Review if you haven't dived for 6 months or longer.

The Scuba Review is a short refresher course including a review of the safety information you learned during your initial training along with a supervised skill session in confined water with your Instructor. They will help you tune up important diving skills such as buoyancy and breath control, equipment assembly and breathing from an alternative air source. You can then take a supervised open water dive to rediscover the beauty of the Red Sea. The open water dive will be from the boat or shore depending on which resort you visit.

PADI Bubblemaker

Start out on the right fin, jump into the PADI Bubblemaker program today! If you're 8 or older, now is your chance to take the plunge with a PADI Instructor and go pool diving. PADI Seal Team - age 8+
This course is for young divers who are looking for an action-packed, adventurous program filled with exciting scuba 'AquaMissions'.

Have you ever wondered what it's like to dive with flashlights, take pictures underwater or float effortlessly like an astronaut? Then this is your chance to explore these exciting adventures in a swimming pool!

You will learn the basics of safe diving and explore different AquaMissions like wreck, navigation, buoyancy, underwater photography, environmental awareness and more. Meet new friends and share in an underwater adventure. And best of all become a PADI Seal Team Member!

Continuing education

Take your diving further, in safety, with a choice of more than nine courses plus PADI Specialties. Gaining more skills in diving will increase your confidence and knowledge, leading you to new adventures. Equip yourself with the skills to really relax and enjoy your sport.

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver
Duration:
3 days (including 1 day diving prior to starting the 2-day course)

When you have achieved a minimum of 5 'Adventure Dives', in your own time, you are eligible to be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver. You can complete these dives either separately or at different times, in different locations or all together over 2 full days accompanied by a Certified Instructor. When booking the full Advanced Course with us, all 5 dives are taken over a 2-day period. This is a great choice if you're looking to increase your capabilities and gain more experience in different underwater activities.

To certify as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, you must take part in the Deep dive and Navigation dive. You can choose 3 of the remaining Adventure dives with your instructor from the following:

The dives will be from the boat (or shore in Nuweiba) and we do ask all guests to complete a day's diving prior to starting this course. Adventure Dives give you a taste of the various specialty courses on offer and can even count as the first dive of that relevant specialty, taking you that little bit closer to becoming a Specialty diver!

PADI Adventure Diver
Duration: 1 - 1 1/2 days

After your Open Water course, why not start a PADI Adventure Diver course and complete some 'Adventure Dives'? With these dives you're over halfway there to completing your PADI Advanced Open Water certification. You can also take part in just 1 or 2 Adventure Dives if you prefer and these will also count towards the Advanced certification.

Have you always wanted to try wreck diving? How about underwater photography? Here's your opportunity, because you can sample 3 dives of your choice out of a long list of possibilities, that way you get...

• A taste of what you like and what you feel more comfortable with in the water
• The chance to improve your underwater skills
  which means that you get more confidence and enjoyment from your diving

To become a certified PADI Adventure Diver you will need to have achieved 3 Adventure Dives with a PADI certified Instructor. These can be completed in as little as 1 day. PADI Rescue Diver
Duration: 3 days

This course is a very important step in expanding your knowledge and experience as well as increasing your confidence. As with all PADI courses, it is 'performance' based and involves knowledge development and 5 rescue training sessions (in pool, confined or open water, from shore or boat) plus 4 open water rescue scenarios. During these, you will cover:

The psychology of rescue
Preparation for emergencies
Accident management
Responding to diver emergencies
Self-rescue
Tired diver
Panicked diver
Response from shore or boat with both a responsive and unresponsive diver
Distressed diver underwater
Missing diver
Surfacing the unresponsive diver
Response at surface and exit
First aid for pressure related injuries and oxygen administration

Before starting module 2 of the Rescue Diver course, it is necessary that you have completed an Emergency First Response course within 24 months, or an equivalent 'accepted' certification including primary care (CPR) and secondary care (First Aid) within 24 months.

We do also ask all guests to complete a day's diving prior to starting the Rescue Course, to check weights, buoyancy and equipment.

Emergency First Response
Duration: 1 day

Emergency First Response gives you the skills you need to perform CPR and First Aid. Whether you're a diver or a non-diver, Emergency First Response helps you to properly handle potentially life-threatening situations. This comprehensive program contains 2 core modules that can be taught in tandem or as stand-alone courses: Emergency First Response - Primary Care and Emergency First Response - Secondary Care. Together, these courses provide extensive instruction in CPR and First Aid, as well as providing optional (yet recommended) Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Emergency Oxygen sections.

Oxygen Provider
Duration: 1 day

The Oxygen Provider course is designed to give you the necessary basic training to administer oxygen to victims of diving accidents. When combined with the Rescue Diver and Emergency First Response courses it provides the best preparation on how to react correctly to any diving related accident. Examples of course topics include:

Anatomy and physiology review
Signs and symptoms of near-drowning
Decompression sickness and arterial gas embolism
Benefits of oxygen
Dive accident statistics
Oxygen equipment assembly and familiarisation
Use and disassembly
Treatment of simulated injured divers - breathing and non-breathing, conscious and unconscious

PADI Enriched Air Diver
Duration: 1 day

The PADI Enriched Air Diver course is 1 day's training providing recreational divers with the knowledge needed to plan and execute recreational Nitrox dives. It consists of knowledge development, 2 practical application sessions and 2 optional Enriched Air training dives, taken from the boat or shore depending on which resort you are visiting. We do ask that you complete 1 day's recreational diving before taking this course to check weights, buoyancy and equipment.

By diving with enriched air rather than standard air you can extend your no-decompression limits. This means more time underwater. For example, if you dive to 15 metres/50 feet on air, your no-decompression limit is 80 minutes. But, diving on EANx36 gets you 220 minutes of no-decompression time - an increase of 140 minutes.

The PADI Enriched Air Diver Specialty certification emphasises the theoretical and operational considerations involved with enriched air diving.

PADI Specialty Courses
Duration: 1 - 2 days

The purpose of a PADI Specialty Course is to familiarise you with the techniques, knowledge, planning, organisation, potential hazards and safety skills for various special interest areas of diving. The Specialty Course is a safe and supervised introduction to that area. We do ask that you complete 1 day's recreational diving before taking a specialty course to check weights, buoyancy and equipment.

PADI Master Scuba Diver
The PADI Master Scuba Diver certification is the highest non-professional diver rating in the PADI program and shows superior achievement and experience. To reach this level you must complete all levels of diver training including Rescue Diver, Emergency First Response and 5 PADI Speciality courses as well as a minimum of 50 logged dives. The choice of courses includes Specialties with none and up to 4 training dives. Some can already be started during the Adventures in Diving program, which can make this additional certification an inexpensive choice. Achieve recognition as a 'black belt' in recreational scuba diving.

Scuba Review
Duration: 1 day

PADI Divemaster Course
The Divemaster course can be completed in as little as seven days as a minimum, although most candidates need at least ten days. We recommend taking two to three weeks to complete this first professional level in diver training and gain as much experience as possible.

The course not only develops the candidate's diving knowledge to instructor level through independent study and classroom discussions, but also addresses attitudes, judgement, customer service, business and operational challenges. Watermanship and stamina are evaluated together with diving skills, which will be developed to demonstration quality. Candidates will complete a rescue evaluation and underwater mapping exercise as well as demonstrating their skills in dive planning and leadership. They will also function as an instructional assistant, both in confined and open water. Completion of this course qualifies the candidate to attend either a PADI Assistant Instructor (AI) course or a PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) which eventually leads to the certification as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.

Once signed off as a Divemaster by the instructor, the candidate can continue their education and become a Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) Leader. Apart from that, candidates who are interested in teaching CPR and first aid can qualify as an Emergency First Response Instructor course and teach how to assist injured and ill adults and children, as long as they have current training in CPR and first aid for adults and children.

The insured Divemaster may also teach and certify PADI Skin Divers and conduct the PADI Discover Snorkelling program, as well as conduct the Scuba Review program for certified divers. (Full details can be found in the General Standards and Procedures section of the PADI Instructor Manual/CD-ROM). Discover Scuba programs can only be conducted by DSD Leaders. Certified and active Divemasters can also take the Digital Underwater Photographer Specialty Instructor Training course and help student divers develop the knowledge, skills and practical techniques necessary to obtain excellent photographs with a digital camera by conducting this Specialty course or acting as 'photo pro' during Open Water Diver courses or Discover Digital Underwater Photography experiences.

Internship Program
The Divemaster course is also available with a free-of-charge Internship option where candidates have the opportunity of working first-hand with students in different diving courses and on the dive boats along-side our experienced professional instructors and dive guides in a busy Red Sea resort location catering for many different dive environments. You will also have the opportunity to learn the day-to-day running of a busy, top-class, resort dive centre in the Red Sea. The internship will enable you to gain practical experience in guiding and assisting in teaching, learn different methods from our instructors and get to know the dive sites, all of which will make it easier for you to find work in the diving industry. The cost of the Divemaster course is the same as without the Internship option.

PADI Specialty Instructor Training Our PADI Instructor Development Course schedule is planned so that you can incorporate Specialty Instructor Training into your development. Where better than the Red Sea to learn how to teach Specialties? This training will increase your confidence and extend your teaching range when you qualify at the PADI Instructor's Exam.

Emergency First Response Instructor Training Due to popular demand we have also included Emergency First Response Instructor Training into our PADI IDC schedule. This course teaches the layperson all they need to know about First Aid and CPR and gives them the confidence to care. The added benefit to you, the PADI Scuba Instructor, is that you will be able to teach a PADI Rescue Diver Course from start to finish including the required First Aid and CPR skills.

Emergency First Response Instructor
Since the Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care and Care for Children Instructor Training courses have been combined, this course is now a two-day course. It teaches candidates to organize, conduct and market the EFR and EFR Care for Children courses and focuses on practice, demonstrations and teaching methods. The only prerequisite is that you have completed the EFR and Care for Children courses (or another recognized course) within the last 2 years.
If you are already EFR Instructor, you can expand your rating to include Care for Children by taking the one-day Care for Children Instructor Training course. Current CPR/First Aid Instructors from other emergency care organizations may qualify for the EFR Instructor Crossover programme. Please contact us for details.

Digital Underwater Photography
If you like taking pictures underwater and you are a PADI Divemaster or above, why not consider taking the Digital Underwater Photographer Specialty Instructor Training course? You will learn how to help student divers (and even snorkelers) develop the knowledge, skills and practical techniques necessary to obtain excellent photographs with a digital camera.

Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) Prep Course
The MSDT Prep actually consists of five Specialty Instructor Training courses and takes from three to five days. PADI Specialty Instructor Training courses are designed to train instructors how to organise, conduct and market PADI Specialty courses.
The course involves knowledge development presentations and up to ten open water dives, during which candidates are shown how to conduct training briefings and relevant skills. Subjects include wreck mapping and survey, wreck penetration skills, use of reels, deep diving techniques, air consumption calculations, navigation skills and techniques, night diving techniques, search and recovery skills, search patterns, use of lifting bags and safe recovery skills, digital photography, Nitrox diving or a host of other Specialty related skills.

Enriched Air (Nitrox) Instructor
This course will train you how to organise, conduct and market the Nitrox diver course. Nitrox diving is presently becoming very popular worldwide and instructors are strongly recommended to obtain this rating in order to offer the Adventures in Diving Enriched Air dive as well.

IDC Staff Instructor
Designed to provide PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainers with additional training necessary to staff PADI IDCs. The course is conducted over ten days during an actual IDC. Initial IDC Staff training is conducted over three days prior to the IDC. You then monitor an entire IDC and develop evaluation and counselling skills before completion of IDC Staff certification. A qualified IDC Staff Instructor is certified to teach PADI Assistant Instructor courses and assist in instructor training.

Dive sites

The daily diving from our Marsa Alam Dive Centre is the perfect way to spend a diving holiday. Our sites are close by and are suitable for all levels of divers, from the beginner to the deepest Technical diver. We enjoy uncrowded sites and dive from day boats, fast RIB and shore. All sites offer great snorkelling too.

Marsa Mubarak
The largest and most versatile dive site accessible from Port Ghalib offers seven wildly different diving experiences offering the chance to see everything from puffer fishes to dugongs, giant green sea turtles to trunk fishes and everything in-between. Offering sea grass, pinnacles, coral gardens and reef walls this dive site offers a change of seeing just about all the flora and fauna the Red Sea has to offer.

Marsa Shouni Kebir
Offering some of the most picturesque dive sites in the southern Red Sea, the "Large Bay of the Market" is probably most famous for the massive variety of rays that call its sea grass plane home. Eagle, leopard, feather-tail, grey and thorny rays are all regularly spotted alongside a large school of golden trevallies and a menagerie of different snake eels. Turtles are abundant here and there is a great chance to meet "George", a giant green sea turtle who sleeps in the same spot most mornings on the South Reef.

Ras El Torfa (Abu Syel)
A protected area for mooring along the dynamic fringing reef offers three very different dives with incredible topography and stunning corals, the highlight being and enormous ball of rock and coral perched at the end of an enormous coral tongue. Its location encourages pelagic and schooling fishes in enormous schools and white tip reef sharks and even mantas have been spotted here.

Marsa Shouni Soraya
The "Small Bay of the Market" has a distinctive shape giving a variety of dive sites ideal for new and experienced divers alike as well as a sheltered lagoon where baby eagle rays have been regularly spotted. The signature table corals harbour a massive array of life and its reefs are teeming with shrimps, scorpion fishes and barracuda. The bay has a resident hawksbill turtle and dolphins are regular visitors, even a whale shark was recently spotted just outside.

Marsa Morena
The "Bay of the Moray Eel" offers several widely contrasting dives from caves to pinnacles. The unique angle of the bay encourages greater than normal water movement encouraging an abundance of life and regular eagle ray and barracuda sightings, whilst its shallow sandy plateau holds rarities like the stargazer and velvet fish as well as a wealth of soles, flounders and torpedo rays.

Abu Dabab Reefs
With a beautiful coral garden, dramatic cave system and a small wreck the Abu Dabab reef system truly has it all. Several large Napoleon wrasse patrol its reefs and some enormous moray eels guard its coral blocks. Its exposed northern reefs are abundant with fish attracting large pelagics including sharks.

Marsa Abu Dabab
A world famous selection of dive sites boasting an unbelievable number of giant turtles as well as the chance to spot Dugongs and Guitar sharks. A must for anyone visiting the southern Red Sea the bay has now closed to boats and access from the shore now offers a much more peaceful and relaxed diving experience.

Elphinstone
A large cigar-shaped offshore reef that offers wall diving that is both exhilarating and spectacular with regular sightings of large pelagics including oceanic whitetip sharks, tuna and barracuda as well as hammerheads, napoleons and turtles; all drawn to the reef by its strong currents and abundance of fish life.

Sha'ab Samadai
A short ride by bus and boat from Port Ghalib is Sha'ab Samadai, a horseshoe shaped reef known locally as Dolphin House. Offering truly spectacular diving including the awe inspiring cathedral swim-through and a remarkable collection of hard and soft coral, anemone cities and a resident napoleon wrasse this can be a highlight of your stay. The reef is also used regularly by a pod of spinner dolphins and there can be an opportunity to snorkel with them between dives.

Vanessa Ronecker Marsa Alam Dive Centre Manager My name is Vanessa Ronecker and I come from Germany. I have been diving for more than 10 years and began whilst at school. My interest was ignited again in Cuba where I did my Open Water course. The German lakes were simply too attractive for me not to explore! Since 2004 I have been diving and living in the Red Sea area. When I first came here I did my Divemaster training, which was mainly shore diving in Al Quseir. Enjoying the job so much, I became an Instructor in 2005. After having worked for two years doing shore diving, I needed a change and moved on to the South.

At Emperor Divers Marsa Alam I found the perfect set up to gain more experience in boat diving. I love the diving down here because the dive sites are fantastic for beginners and experienced divers; you always have a chance of meeting a surprise in the water. It's both relaxed and still yet you can have some challenging dives to improve your skills. At the same time it's a brilliant place for teaching diving!

I have been working in Port Ghalib since 2006 and have seen the place growing and improving. Over the years we have built up a great team, not only the diving staff but also the boat and ground crew. This is the atmosphere which makes me stay and love the place! And I think this is what our guests also feel...and that's why we welcome them back time and time again.

Certification fee
Certification fee payable in resort on completion of each course - € 35.

Sales Tax (10%)

Trips and excursions

Abu Dabab (day or half day)
A great day out for both divers and non-diving family or friends. Travel by bus to Abu Dabab where the options include relaxing on the beach, swimming or snorkelling in this fabulously famous site. The resident Dugong is a possible bonus sighting during a cooling swim. There is a great beach restaurant for lunch and drinks. A perfect way to spend a day at the beach where the children are safe and the snorkelling is great for all ages.

Dolphin House (Shaab Samadai) (full day)
Here is a real chance of seeing the resident pod of Spinner dolphins. You are collected from your hotel and taken by air conditioned bus to the port of Marsa Alam where you board a boat for the 45-minute trip to Dolphin House. At the site, we transfer to zodiac boats and it's off to visit the dolphins.

After snorkelling for about 45 minutes you return to the boat for lunch and cool drinks before relaxing on board. You can then snorkel again in the area for a while before we head back to port and transfer you to your hotel.
